You like the idea of a quiet start to the day and being able to just flick a switch and begin blowing the autumn leaves into a neat pile for collection. No starter rope to pull, no two-stroke fuel to fill and store and no emissions. Then why not start with a look at the ECHO DPB-600 power blower which is part of ECHO’s 50V Lithium Ion battery series? Like every product ECHO designs and manufactures it is built with a selection of features which consider the environment it will be used in and operator productivity. This is petrol performance from a battery product.

There, it has been said and it’s true you get professional-grade quality with the DPB-600 built to the same professional standards as ECHO’s petrol power blowers. It’s powerful, tough, durable and built to last, whether it’s being used by a professional or the keen gardener. The DPB-600 is small and lightweight but it packs a punch when it comes to clearing large areas of fallen leaves. With its low noise it’s ideally suited to use in noise sensitive areas, perfect around schools and nursing homes or just around the garden. Low emissions really do mean it can be used in low emission areas such as parks, nature reserves or organic gardens. Because it has fewer working parts it’s low maintenance and it’s clean, easy to use and store.

Now for the technical bit. The versatile 50V Lithium Ion 4Ah battery which comes as standard on the DPB-600, can be used with other ECHO 50V battery products, so you can switch them around depending on what job you are doing. The DPB-600 features a robust brushless motor which is long lasting and maintenance free due to non-wearing parts – helping to reduce downtime and servicing costs. It has intelligent energy efficient motor controls which manage the motor speed, power delivery and battery temperature for improved performance and battery life. And the fan on the DPB-600 is protected by a unique meshed cover design, which prevents the entry of debris and damage to the fan. You’ll find it easy and comfortable to use, with the neat feature of a throttle with cruise control and rubber over-mould grip. The blowing power, precision and run time are all optimised with variable speed control. And how long does it take to charge the battery? The DPB-600 comes with a rapid charger which helps to reduce down time, charging the 4Ah battery to 80% in 48 mins and 100% in 88mins.

The five-year domestic warranty shows that ECHO are extremely confident in their machines. This confidence continues with a two-year warranty on all ECHO 50V Lithium Ion batteries.
With no cables, no storing and mixing fuel, as a Lithium Ion product the hedge trimmer offers clean battery power whilst providing performance equal to its petrol counterparts. It’s also built to the same standard as ECHO’s petrol hedge trimmers, with their reputation for being powerful, tough and durable, offering the keen gardener professional quality.

The DHC-200 just needs charging up and it’s ready to go. It’s lightweight and very comfortable to use, thanks to the ergonomic design of the front handle which helps manoeuvrability; and it can be used for long periods with little fatigue. Gardeners trimming ornamental hedges can count on the variable speed control for precision cutting and optimized run-time. The 62cm double-sided precision cut blades provide a clean cut with a long-lasting sharpness for a beautiful finish. The ECHO® 50V Lithium Ion batteries are small and lightweight, but have the power to tackle tough jobs. The DHC-200 uses energy efficient motor controls to manage motor speed, power delivery and battery temperature for improved cutting performance and battery life.

There are other considerations with this Lithium Ion hedge trimmer such as reduced maintenance costs due to fewer moving parts, easy-to-use controls with no recoil start, no more fuel filling or cold starting. The DHC-200 has a professional grade brushless motor which is long lasting and maintenance-free. This is down to non-wearing parts, reducing downtime and servicing costs. It comes with a 2Ah battery and rapid charger as standard, with an optional 4Ah battery for a longer run time. The rapid battery charger ensures the 2Ah battery is boosted to 80% capacity in 24 minutes and the 4Ah in 48 minutes. It’s also a hedge trimmer that is clean to use and store and there’s no need to store and mix two-stroke fuel. The five-year domestic warranty shows that ECHO are extremely confident in their machines. This confidence continues in its 50V battery range with a two-year warranty on all 50V lithium ion batteries.
The new ECHO® DSRM-300 Trimmer is part of ECHO’s 50v Lithium Ion battery series. For the professional and keen gardener alike, here is precise cutting using clean battery power and like all ECHO designs it considers the environment it will be used in and operator productivity.

The first thing you’ll notice is how lightweight and comfortable to use this trimmer is. The DSRM-300 has an ergonomic rubber mould design for the front handle to help manouevrability allowing its use for longer periods with little fatigue. Similar to petrol trimmers, the motor is positioned at the top of the shaft making it well-balanced and comfortable to operate. Comfort is also aided by the rubber over-mould throttle grip, allowing the operator to take a firmer and safer grip of the trimmer. Gardeners trimming around flower beds and boarders can count on the variable speed control for precision cutting and optimised run-time. And what could be simpler? Easy-to-use controls – no recoil start, no more fuel filling or cold starting – just charge up and go.

But how does battery power and performance compare with petrol? In the case of the DSRM-300 you wouldn’t know the difference except for the low noise and low emissions. No filling with two-stroke and reduced maintenance costs due to fewer moving parts make it an immediate consideration. It’s ideal for working in noise sensitive areas, so it is perfect for work around schools, hospitals, nursing homes and the low emission makes it a natural choice for use in parks, gardens and nature reserves. The ECHO DSRM-300 is built to the same professional standards as ECHO’s petrol trimmers but using the latest in Lithium Ion technology. It has a professional grade brushless motor which is long lasting and maintenance-free. This is down to non-wearing parts, reducing downtime and servicing costs.

The ECHO® 50V batteries are small and lightweight but have the power to tackle the tough jobs. The cutting head comes with a professional 2mm twist line capable of cutting thick grass and is ideally suited in areas where there might be noise limitations. The DSRM-300 has a professional grade brushless motor which is long lasting and maintenance-free. The trimmer uses energy efficient motor controls to manage motor speed, power delivery and battery temperature. The result is improved cutting performance and battery life. The ECHO® 50V Lithium Ion batteries have also been designed to be versatile, fitting other products in the ECHO® 50V Battery series.

The trimmer is clean to use and store – no need for storing and mixing two-stroke fuel. The two-year professional use and 5-year domestic warranty shows that ECHO are extremely confident in their machines and this confidence continues in its 50V battery range with a two-year warranty on all 50V lithium ion batteries. Weigh it all up and there is a definite case for turning to Lithium Ion power when you try the ECHO® DSRM-300 trimmer.

Working in built-up areas can present hazards when cutting close to bystanders, cars or buildings. It only takes a few stones or loose objects to get thrown into the air and there is the potential of damage to property or even a risk to safety.

The new ECHO® ASK-RW23D scissor head, a rotary scissor attachment suitable for most ECHO® brushcutters, helps to reduce this risk. It works on the principle of a 20:1 reduction ratio gearbox and two contra-rotating blades that actually ‘snip’ the grass or brush - just like a pair of scissors. This means you have safer and more precise cutting. Grass, weeds or brush simply drops where it is cut, making the ASK-RW23D an ideal choice to use when required to work near people, office windows or parked cars.

Highly versatile, the ASK-RW23D scissor head can trim up close to solid obstacles, such as trees, walls and kerbs without kickback or damage. Edging golf course bunkers and trimming grass in shallow water are easily tackled. The flat bottom design enables the operator to place the cutting head close to the ground when uncovering hidden landmarks, such as drain covers.

The ASK-RW23D rotary scissor head comes with an 18 over 15 tooth blade kit, and an optional 28 over 24 tooth fine cut blade kit is also available for getting an even finer finish on grass and lawn edges. The cutting head is well-balanced, making it easy to manoeuvre and comfortable to use. The ASK-RW23D scissor head mirrors ECHO®’s commitment to quality, providing their customers with commercial grade and innovative products. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">Landscape
professionals need two key factors from their outdoor power tools: increased productivity
combined with minimum downtime for maintenance. You want to get the job done
quickly and efficiently, particularly where you’re using a brushcutter to power
through dense brush. It’s all about torque - more torque means more cutting
performance, allowing you to tackle a wider range of tasks with just one
brushcutter.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">ECHO has
launched the ECHO SRM-2620TES, the latest model in the range of ECHO High
Torque Brushcutters, to do just that. Utilising a unique gearbox design, ECHO
‘TES’ brushcutters deliver up to 50% more torque at the cutting head than
previous models, giving you the same cutting performance as a larger machine
but with a smaller, lightweight engine. The 25.4cc professional grade 2-stroke
engine provides greater power with improved acceleration, and a gear reduction ratio
of 2.07 means the SRM-2620TES generates outstanding levels of torque. The
lightweight design also features low levels of vibration, providing reduced
operator fatigue without compromising a cutting performance that’s equal to a
higher capacity machine.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">Further
improvements with the SRM-2620TES include a new fan cover design which reduces
the snagging of cables on branches in overgrown areas. There’s a tool-less air
filter cover for easy access, even with gloves on, which makes it easier to
clean the air filters on site. Changes to the air filter include a pleated main
air filter and foam pre-filter to keep dust and debris away from the engine.
All of which adds up to ensuring longer service intervals, better engine
performance and more time to take on those extra jobs.

customary two-year professional warranty and five-year domestic warranty are
testimony to the tough, durable and dependable quality ECHO build in to all
their machines. Find out more from your local authorised ECHO dealer.
ECHO have announced the introduction of a new backpack power blower available for professionals. The new PB-580 is ECHO’s most comfortable to date with a host of new features that enhance operator comfort and help reduce fatigue.

A new, ventilated backpack pad is designed to keep the operator cool even when the Stage 2 compliant 58.2cc engine is running at maximum revs. Four anti-vibration springs and padded shoulder straps provide increased support for the operator’s back to make this blower more comfortable to use for longer periods; in turn increasing productivity and seeing faster clearance of leaves and debris. The blower’s handle has a newly designed palm rest and hand stop, to reduce the chances of the operator’s hand slipping down the handle and losing control. The blower has a longer trigger for increased throttle precision.

An important factor for the operator in the field is being able to maintain a blower with minimum down-time. The ECHO PB-580 has an air filter cover that can be removed without the need for tools, allowing the pleated automotive-style air filter to be easily replaced if needed. There is also easier access for tightening the throttle cable which is a time-saver.

It’s no good having a blower that gets clogged and the PB-580 has a leaf guard to eliminate clogging of the fan and filter. Another neat and important feature is the metal ring at the end of the straight or curved pipe which helps prevent damage from general wear and tear.

ECHO’s professional backpack blowers have a deserved reputation as tough, durable and dependable machines and come with a two-year professional warranty. The new PB-580 is no exception.

ECHO’s new top handle saw.

Compact, lightweight and with an outstanding power-to-weight ratio, the new ECHO CS-2510TES top handle sets a benchmark for chainsaws. It’s clear the designers have aimed to create a top handle saw that fulfils the arborist’s needs in terms of superb balance, reliability, performance and comfort. This latest model in ECHO’s range of new generation chainsaws is their lightest and most compact saw to date. The dry weight is just 2.3kg and with its ergonomic, compact design the saw is highly manoeuvrable and can be used for long periods with little operator fatigue. The engine produces 1.11kW to give the CS-2510TES a superior power-to-weight ratio. Tim Kirk, Managing Director of TKF Training, got his hands on the saw before its launch.

“I was recently given the new ECHO CS-2510TES top handled chainsaw to test – it was the only one in the country – and my first impression was it must be one of the smallest chainsaws on the market. The saw was fitted with a 10” bar and I have to say it was very light. The big test for such a small saw was the removal of limbs between 150mm to 200mm. I was amazed the saw cut through oak and beech without a dip in power.”

A key feature Tim picked out was using the starter cord toggle as a tool to open the fuel and oil filler caps. This can be done even when wearing gloves. Wider tank openings also make oil and fuel refilling easier and the oiler adjustment is conveniently on top for operator access. The dropout prevention nut is held on with a wire spring to prevent loss when working at height. Attention to detail in the design sees the CS-2510TES fitted with a selection of other features to make the operator’s life easier and more productive. There’s a swing-out lanyard ring for attaching the chainsaw to harness ropes, leaving the operator’s hands free for easier and safer climbing, while the rotating plastic chain catcher is a key safety feature. Narrow louvers in the body are designed to prevent pine needles and debris penetrating the engine compartment. Summing up, a great saw arborists are already talking about and ECHO dealers can’t wait to get in their showrooms, the CS-2510TES is available from November 2015.

There is much debate among professional arborists about the top handle chainsaw. Working at height, balance, performance and reliability are critical factors for the highly trained and qualified arborist and they need the right chainsaw.

“Having the right gear to do the work quickly, efficiently and safely is imperative,” says Niall Campbell, a Lead Climber for Special Branch Tree & Hedge Surgery in St. Andrews, Fife. “Nowhere is the gear debate more hotly contested amongst arborists than that of the top handle chainsaw. I was lucky enough to win an ECHO CS-360TES at the 2014 Confor APF Fair. I have been so impressed with this chainsaw.”
ECHO, part of the Yamabiko Corporation, has been a leading Japanese manufacturer of professional outdoor power tools for over thirty years. In designing the latest generation top handle chainsaws it’s clear Yamabiko are aware of what arborists really need. They haven’t just looked at one part of the chainsaw, they have looked at everything and started from scratch. This begins with maximum control over the machine to work in the safest possible way. ECHO began by creating excellent balance and made the saws light enough to be used throughout the day, without causing excessive user fatigue. Arborists want a clean running saw that accumulates very little debris and that was built in. The ECHO G-Force engine air pre-cleaner reduces the chainsaw’s maintenance for less downtime and safer operation.

Next, the chain brake was slimmed down to allow the operator a clear view of what they are cutting. The ECHO Stage 2 Low Emission engines with Easy Start offer effortless starting, which is what arborists really want, while a patented palm rest and larger thumb space ensure greater control and operator comfort. The contoured handle is designed to fit comfortably in the operator’s hand to reduce fatigue. All of which adds up to a combination of productivity with less downtime for maintenance and the ECHO promise of being tough, durable and dependable. Qualities that are borne out by Niall Campbell who says,

“having used all of the popular arborist chainsaws I am extremely happy with this saw, having given it hard use in a professional environment for ten months. In an industry dominated by two ‘big boys’, ECHO have stepped out of the shadows with an excellent product.” ECHO have two models of top handle chainsaws, the CS-280TES and CS-360TES and with demand high the range is expanding with a new model, the CS-2510TES arriving in October 2015 following its first showing at the 2015 ARB Fair. There is no doubt arborists are talking about the top handle chainsaws and can’t wait to get their hands on them. Tim Kirk, Managing Director of TFK Training, one of the country’s leading independent training providers, product tested the CS-2510TES and says, “I love this top handle chainsaw and I expect it will sell like hot cakes when it’s available.” The warranty on ECHO chainsaws is 2-years in professional use.
'Like many other arborists, I am incredibly passionate about our industry. I enjoy every aspect of my job and having the right gear to be able to do the work quickly, efficiently and safely is imperative. Nowhere is the gear debate more hotly contested amongst arborists than that of the top-handled chainsaw. I was lucky enough to receive the latest ECHO CS-360TES top handle saw at the 2014 Confor APF fair. I was awarded the chainsaw as a prize in a competition held by TKF Training. I have been so impressed with this chainsaw that I would like to share my thoughts on it.'

'Out of the box I noticed marked improvements on the previous model (note also that the CS-350TES was the first top-handle I had owned). In particular, the ergonomics felt better and the chain brake was slimmed down and felt much more robust. I was initially disappointed to find a felt air filter as opposed to the gauze in the 350. However, it proved to be a very clean running saw, never accumulating much debris, even after the hardest day smashing the nastiest Leylandii. After running the saw for longer, it got better and better, having much more low end grunt and guts. Pulling at the 14 inch bar supplied was no bother, it only ever so slightly bogged down in the cut when I buried full bar in Beech.'

'Other noticeable improvements on the 360 were the increased throttle response and pick-up I did after running it fully. I switched to a 12 inch bar but this was solely due to personal preference. The only gripe I have with this saw, which I feel could use a bit of work, is the tuning screws being more user friendly - it would have saved me a trip to the dealer.'

'Having used all of the popular arborist chainsaws, I am extremely satisfied with this saw having given it hard use in a professional environment for 10 months. In an industry dominated by two “big boys” ECHO have stepped out of the shadows with an excellent product and more traditional tool. The ECHO CS-360TES top handle chainsaw easily stands up to the rivals.'
Landscapers, arborists and gardeners not only depend on their power tools to be reliable, they need them to be comfortable and easy to work with. All qualities we have come to expect from ECHO and the ECHO HCR-185ES hedge cutter is no exception. You can see it’s built for the professional, with integral features that ensure you’ll get the maximum productivity. The powerful 0.57kW output and reliability of the ECHO 21.2cc two-stroke, Stage 2 compliant, low emission engine gets you quickly through the work. Naturally you also get the ECHO Easy Start® system for effortless starting and there’s a throttle lock-out to prevent accidental throttle engagement.

Ease of use is a main consideration and the ECHO hedge cutter has a newly designed rear handle which locates the frame base higher than the blade. The five position rotating handle also increases manoeuvrability and comfort for the operator, allowing you to use the hedge cutter at different angles without having to twist the whole machine. A definite plus for ensuring the HCR-185ES runs smoothly across hedges with no bumping or snagging, making it the perfect tool for garden and ornamental hedges.

Using a hedge cutter over extended periods is tiring work and like all ECHO power tools the new machine has integrated, low vibration technology to help minimise fatigue. The speed and smoothness of cut will be high on your productivity list and the laser cut, precision ground, double reciprocating blades provide both while ensuring long lasting sharpness. The 35mm blade pitch is ideal for tackling a variety of hedges from thorn, privet and hornbeam to beech and yew. The hedge cutter has an effective cutter length of 744mm with and there’s a half length blade guard to help protect you from accidental contact with the blades.

The superior design of the exhaust system directs exhaust emissions away from you, while preventing scorching and discolouration of the hedge, and there’s a fully enclosed cover to protect you from touching the hot exhaust. Other neat touches are the easy, tool-free access to the air filter, even when wearing gloves, and the vertical fuel filler neck for easier re-fuelling. Like all ECHO power tools, the HCR-185ES hedge cutter is built to endure tough, professional work and comes with a two-year warranty in professional use.

The ECHO HCR-185ES hedge cutter is £415.83 (ex-VAT).

Designed and built exclusively for professional operators, this brushcutter utilises multiple technologies to enhance user productivity and comfort.

With a 1:2.07 gear reduction ratio, the SRM-420TES’s high torque gearbox spins the cutting head one-and-a-quarter turns per engine cycle and delivers 50% more torque than its predecessor. This extra torque means that, when fitted with heavier line, the brushcutter can make short work of even dense bramble or brush without losing head speed.

The cutting head on the 420TES has been upgraded too. Now with an extra 7.6cm of cutting radius, operators can cut wider swathes, reducing the number of passes required to complete the job at hand. Coupled with ECHO’s ‘Tap & Go’ quick line release system, the SRM-420TES can quickly work through larger areas with few stops to load new line.

The 420TES benefits from a new engine design. Now stage 2 emission compliant, the 41.5cc engine boasts a power output of 1.78kW, over 10% more than its predecessor. Engine performance has been further enhanced thanks to a new air filter design. Positioned at the rear of the machine, away from flying dirt and debris, filtration has been greatly improved, allowing for smooth and efficient engine performance. Access to the filter is tool-free and the cover can be removed and fitted by hand, even when the operator is wearing work gloves.

A newly designed quick hook-up and release harness is features on this U handle brushcutter. This allows the operator to easily detach themselves from the machine quickly should the need arise.

ECHO only build equipment to one standard – professional. The SRM-420TES is no exception. It has been tested in the same punishing conditions that it will be used in every day. So confident are ECHO of its durability, the 420TES comes with a two year warranty in professional use.

The ECHO SRM-420TES high torque brushcutter is £649.17 (ex-VAT).

It has been ergonomically designed to provide operators with control and manoeuvrability whilst maintaining a high degree of comfort – even when used in a difficult working environment.

Unlike other saws on the market, the CS-280TES features a unique ‘wrap-around’ handle which is sloped back towards the operator’s body. This design provides the operator with a higher-degree of control.

The weight of the saw has not been compromised to accommodate this new feature. It has near-perfect weight distribution which provides excellent balance and it is light enough to be used through-out the day without causing excessive fatigue for the operator.

It has a new stage-2 emission compliant 26.9cc engine. With an output of 1.04kW the CS-280TES is 20% more powerful than its predecessor (CS-260TES).

The chainsaw’s air filter is positioned away from dirt and debris. This provides better filtration and ultimately improves engine performance. Access to the filter is easy and tool-free, even when the operator is wearing gloves.

All ECHO power tools come with a two year warranty for professional use (registration of ECHO products and servicing are necessary to validate the warranty).

The ECHO CS-280TES top handle chainsaw is £340.83 (ex- VAT) and is available for trained operators only.

ran a free prize draw to win an ECHO ES-250ES Shred 'N' Vac®.

The lucky winner was Mrs Griffiths of Solihull, who contacted the ECHO team as soon as she received her prize. She said, “My husband is absolutely thrilled with the ECHO ES-250ES. His first comment on opening it was, ‘Excellent, it's a petrol power blower. This means no cables to get entangled. I'll be able to give our electric one away to my daughter and son-in-law now.’”

With leaves now starting to fall and debris being scattered by the winds, now is the perfect time to invest in the versatile ECHO Shred 'N' Vac®.

With this one machine, you can blow, vacuum and shred leaves. Fitted with a premium grade 2-stroke 25.4cc engine, it is more powerful than an electric blower.

The ES Easy Start system means the engine can be started quickly with minimum effort required from the operator. With the EZ lock™ feature, the blower pipe is securely locked to the machine, and is also simple to attach and disconnect.

I was excited, yet a little dubious, when I first heard of the ECHO battery powered trimmers. We have investigated in other battery units before, and although it’s a great idea in theory, all proved to be designed for the domestic market. Not so the ECHO DHC-30s however... I have been thrilled by them, and cannot recommend them highly enough!

These are a completely professional piece of kit - the blades are sharp, and really fly! I am constantly surprised at the speed and power - not at all what might be expected when looking at the technical specs. The motor is listed at 126 watts which sounds like nothing, but they actually outpace all the mains and 110 volt units I have tried, and certainly keep up with the two-strokes.

Unlike two-stokes however, the operator does not have the cloud of blue exhaust smoke to work in. It is such a relief to be able to work in the fresh air again, and not go home at the end of the day with clothes stinking of engine fumes (what can that be doing to your lungs?!). They beat the two-strokes for noise levels too. Although not silent they are far quieter, and of course there's no idling exhaust sound either. These improvement in the work environment should not be underestimated - they are huge benefits!

The battery is comfortably held close to the body in a backpack. You really do forget it is there, and in some ways it even aids balance as you hold the clippers out in front. The short power cord is always in the right place, and I have not been anywhere close to cutting through it. Certainly different from mains leads!

These units do not slow down as the battery discharges, but keep going at full pace right through to the end. The claimed 4-5 hours use is more than fair. In fact, in practice, I use them all day without a spare battery by just putting them back on charge while I have lunch. The little charging unit that comes with them is also a winner - knocking back from full charging to trickle charging as the battery reaches capacity.Having used double-sided blades for many years, I thought it would prove more difficult going back to the single sided units. It was easy enough to adapt technique though, and despite their size, I used them for all the most detailed and intricate of topiary work, as well as the broader expanses of hedging. Ergonomically, the handle placement is perfect, and the micro switches take no pressure to hold down - a great advantage when you are using these tools all day, every day.I am hard pressed to find fault with the ECHO DHC-30, in fact I can only suggest extending the concept... At Levens Hall in the Lake District are the most famous and elaborate topiary gardens in Britain. They were first laid out in 1694 by Guillaume Beaumont, who also worked at Hampton Court Palace. The gardens have changed little since.

In addition to the famous topiary, the gardens display stunning seasonal bedding, a "wilderness", an orchard and vegetable and herb gardens in a series of small compartments, making them a useful source of inspiration for visitors. There is a wealth of contrasting features, and an impressive collection of plant varieties, not to mention the earliest ha-ha, or sunken ditch, in England. The gardens at Levens Hall resonate with their 300-year-old heritage while incorporating new developments and changing influences.
The Gardeners Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01553228457885348785noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6775442338992879476.post-12931890876711069402012-03-12T09:24:00.001-07:002012-03-12T09:28:47.852-07:00The new ECHO CS-610 - Stage 2 compliant for a cleaner environment
designing and manufacturing products that are kinder to the environments that
they are designed to work in. Wherever possible, ECHO strive to beat the ever
